What Mother Nature does to remind us how small we really are, she makes up for in the tender mercies of wildflowers and the quiet solitude of mountain twilight.
Here’s Greg building the fire for one of our favorite things to do… warming up by the fire while cooking a lil’ campfire coffee and bacon. Our goal this year is to try a few different ways to build an efficient campfire, and also build a fire with no matches.
Speaking metaphorically, this is one of our favorite destinations… an unimproved road leading to somewhere that smells like evergreen trees and earth. Literally, this road is sentimental… leading to one of our most favorite destinations… Bee Tree Hill (a name only we know).
We happened upon a large flock of bluebirds at one of our favorite destinations for hikes and camping up around the Entiat, Washington area. Trying to snap just one photo was difficult, as they are so elusive, quickly flying away the millisecond they see your finger move towards the shutter button. We’re hoping to find these little birds at the same location this year for another shoot… the intensity of their blue feathers is astonishing!
In “Shining Through” we had been trying to capture Mt. Rainier all day, starting at the highly recommended Reflection Lakes. However, Mother Nature would not cooperate and we left exhausted from the hike up, down, and all around the lakes. We took several beautiful pictures of trees and clouds… but no majestic mountain. Deciding to make the most of our adventure, we decided to travel home through scenic White’s Pass, where the clouds receded just enough for us capture this photo.
Photo of the gorgeous peaks and valleys through Chinook Pass, WA. Mother Nature spoon-fed some great scenic opportunities here.
